One day , as Abena was reurning from
the riverside after fetching water, she fell
down, broke her pot and sustained some
injuries .She could not even stand on her
feet. She fell so sorry for herself and began
to weep

As a disabled person, it was not easy
for her to run errands for people for
money, but she struggled to do so make
ends meet. She believed that, if she had
someone to take care of her she would not
be doing such diffiuclt tasks. She put on
tattered clothes because there was nobody
to buy new ones for her . Through all her
difficulties. Abena believed that her situ
ation would improve some day . She did
not allow her  disability to kill her God
given talents.

With the rejection by her mother,s
family, Abena had nobody else to depand
on for food Most of the time she fed on
leftover food from other people,s homes
and alms people gave her she was help
less

Abena, s mother put her plan into
action and left her daughtre to her fate.
Abena, therefore, grew up without fate.
parental care .Her mother,s family also
rejected her because of her disability.
Thy always said she was hopeless
had nothing to offer them even if they
belped her

Her mother was also worried
because those in her community gos-
aiped about her for having given birth to
a phyasically- challenged child . She
tbuoght  over her problem both day and
night and finally decded to abandon
Abena and leave the willage entirely for
another place where nobody could locate
her.

 ong, long ago, there lived girl
called Abena was born
physiclly challenged. She was
deformed in one leg and limpeed
badly . That worried her mother a
lot knowing well how physically
challenged children were treated
 not given tiven the pportutnity
explore their fully.
